Cefim-3 DS 400 is used in the treatment of:
- Respiratory tract infections: Pneumonia, Acute bronchitis, Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, Pharyngitis, Tonsillitis
- ENT infections: Otitis media, Sinusitis
- Urinary tract infections: Uncomplicated UTI
- Typhoid fever
- Sexually transmitted diseases: Gonococcal urethritis
- Skin & soft tissue infections

✔️ Report immediately if you develop:
- Severe diarrhea (bloody stools)
- Skin rash, swelling, or breathing difficulty

Adults
- Acute bronchitis, Exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, Otitis media, Pharyngitis, Tonsillitis, UTI: 200–400 mg daily, as a single dose or in two divided doses.
- Gonorrhea: 400 mg as a single dose.
- Typhoid fever: 20 mg/kg/day in 2 divided doses for 7–14 days.
Children
- General dose: 8 mg/kg/day in 1–2 divided doses.
- 6 months–1 year: 75 mg daily
- 1–4 years: 100 mg daily
- 5–10 years: 200 mg daily
- >12 years or >50 kg: Adult dose applies
- Typhoid fever: 15–20 mg/kg/day in 2 divided doses for 7–14 days (max 400 mg/day).
- <6 months: Safety not established.
Renal impairment
- CrCl <20 mL/min: Maximum 200 mg/day.
Administration
- May be taken with or without food.
- Can be taken with milk or food to minimize GI discomfort.

Pregnancy: Observational studies show no major risk of birth defects, miscarriage, or adverse fetal outcomes. It can be used if the benefits outweigh the risks.
Lactation: Unknown if excreted in human milk (present in animal milk). Use with caution; weigh maternal benefit vs infant risk.

Probenecid: Increases plasma concentration of cefixime.
Anticoagulants: May prolong prothrombin time → bleeding risk.
